It has a reputation as a place with a hippie vibe. It’s called a hipster town. It’s a nature lover’s paradise, they say. It has a great brew pub and restaurant culture. It’s famous for Thomas Wolfe and the Vanderbilts.
We tried, in our 40 hours here, to see some of those sides of Asheville ~ and we liked what we saw. The locals are friendly and laid back and mainly very helpful. The scenery excellent nestled alongside the Blue Ridge Mountains, part of the Appalachian Mountain range. The architecture of the town is well preserved with buildings from the 1920s and 30s. It is compact enough to navigate on foot.
Here are a few pics to tempt you should you ever be down this way…
It’s worth going out of your way for.
